Check out this beautiful Afghan chest!
It was collected by botanist Lennart Edelberg in 1948 who participated in the third Central Asian expedition, in which a group of Danish scientists travelled to a number of different Central Asian countries to gather information on the nomadic people living there and the landscapes they were living in.
In the previous expeditions ethnography and philosophy had been hugely neglected in favor of botanic, geographical, and zoological observations, so the third expedition was launched with a hope to be able to collect more knowledge on the culture and customs of the nomadic people before it would disappear.
However, the notes Edelberg wrote on this particular chest does not reveal much about the usage of the chest, unfortunately (he did measure it quite meticulously though).
